Dogs from Peck home transferred to Sacramento
All the dogs removed from the Kimi Peck home near Tehachapi are now in Sacramento, where the SPCA there will put them up for adoption.
The Humane Society of the United States took custody of the animals last Thursday when Peck turned them over to Kern County Animal Control.
Peck had been living in the home on Bear Valley Road for about a year, with some 200 dogs which she said she'd rescued over the years.
County officials said the operation was in violation of local regulations.
Before moving to Bear Valley Road, Peck had the dogs in another Tehachapi-area home, which county officials also said was in violation.
Tuesday, HSUS spokeswoman Jordan Crump reported 144 dogs from the Peck case had been taken to the Sacramento SPCA.
She said that SPCA had recently taken in about 150 Chihuahuas from another case, and adopted them all out.
Crump told Eyewitness News the last of the dogs and 13 cats were taken to Sacramento on Monday.
Crump said chickens that were also seized are staying in the area.
The HSUS group that picked up the Peck dogs in two special trailers has moved on to other rescue operations in Montana and Mississippi.
